HIBISCUS Luna Red
Type: sun annual
Company: PanAmerican Seed®
Cultural Notes
Plant material was supplied as seeds. Seedlings were transplanted to 10-cm pots in Fafard and grown on for approximately 5 weeks. Finished plants were then transplanted and trialed in full-sun, raised beds and fertigated as needed. The hibiscus sawfly is a common pest on hibiscus in the Southeastern US. Sawflies were a problem for all Luna and Honeymoon series hibiscus in our trial. The damage they cause is mostly cosmetic. They can be controlled with spinosad or imidacloprid. Alternatively, they can be removed by hand. More information can be found at msucares.com.
