Resources for both people and animals may be limited following a disaster.  Now is the time to prepare and check your pet’s emergency and evacuation kit! Here are a few essential items to include:

  • Copies of vaccinations and other medical records of your pet, including recent photographs, in a waterproof container or sealable plastic bag
  • Veterinarian’s contact information and a secondary contact for you
  • Three days of food and water supply
  • At least one week’s worth medications
  • Pet carriers, leashes, collars or harnesses with ID tag
  • Collapsible food and water bowls, can openers if necessary
  • Pet first aid kit
  • Cat litter pan, litter
  • Pet bed and toys (try to keep to a minimum)
  • Plastic baggies, paper towels and cleaning materials
