Quit Stressing MEOW(T)!

Importance

A grouchy cat is not just something to accept.  There may be an underlying problem.

    • Stress is an abnormal or extreme adjustment in physiology and/or behavior in response to prolonged or intense negative stimulation
    • Chronic stress can be harmful, may increase infection/disease, and/or delay wound healing
    • Continued stress can transition to distress, preventing the cat from achieving emotional balance
    •  Leads to changes in behavior such as: aggression, flight behavior, learned helplessness

Whether in a shelter setting or a single- or multi-cat household, the

feline population needs YOUR help to live a stress-free and healthy life!

What Stress Looks Like

Active Signs: dilated pupils, ears to the side or back against head, arched back or legs tucked under stomach, forceful movement, tail thumping, open mouth breathing, hissing/growling, spitting
